Right or wrong, we all have our beliefs. I happen to believe in a God who empowers and enables us to do great things. Great things come about in many ways…
Michael Jordan, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Jennifer Lopez, Bill Gates, the Wright Brothers, Susan B. Anthony, Rosa Parks, each accomplished great things throughout their lives.
In a not so distant past, I thought I was going to do something great, but I realized that
Nope, I’m not The One.
I was often told to keep the faith and to never, ever give up! I hate quitting something I feel passionate about. I banged on the door time and time again, faithfully turning the knob over and over again, but the door wouldn’t open. It wasn’t mine to open.
Nope, I’m not The One.
That realization oftentimes comes about slowly for stubborn folks like myself. I fought it. I denied it. I kept pushing. I did everything in my power to make it happen. But I couldn’t.
Nope, I’m not The One.
When you to do something great, you always face strong opposition. But you also have to have key people who support you and pave a way for you. But I didn’t.
Nope, I’m not The One.
That realization was a harsh one. I cried, I mourned and at times, I felt paralyzed. A part of you dies. A dream ends when you realize that
Nope, I’m not The One.
But once I began to accept it; once I began to realize that it wasn’t meant to be; that person, that job, that moment, that opportunity wasn’t for me, something in my heart begins to shift. Then, as i thought that
Nope, I’m not The One.
I begin to feel a release… a freedom. It’s not that I wasn’t enough. It’s not that I wasn’t capable. It just wasn’t meant for me.
Nope, I’m not The One.
I’m not The One for him. I’m not The One for her. I’m not The One who’s going to change that law, I’m not The One who’s going to change the way they think. I’m not The One who’s going to make them stay. I’m not The One who’s going to make them go. I’m not The One who’s going to change them. It’s not for me to do.
Nope, I’m not The One.
But one day, my moment will come. And there will be more than one moment that will come. In those moments I will be The One. I’ll be The One for him. I’ll be The One for her. I’ll be The One who’s going to change that law. I’ll be The One who’s going to change the way they think. I’ll be The One who’s going to make them stay. I’ll be The One who’s going to make them go. I’ll be The One who’s going to change them. It will be for me to do.
But today…
Nope, I’m not The One.
And that’s quite all right ☺️
Love this!
