Tulum: Girl’s Trip

This girl’s trip was to celebrate a birthday and to provide a break from the realities of life. Four of us met in Tulum and shared an Airbnb during our stay. Tulum does not have a many all inclusive resort options as other areas of Mexico. I found it to be more tranquil and remote than what I had experienced before. It was a little unexpected as it took a more maneuvering than the resorts. I opted for a bus ride from the Cancun airport to Tulum since it was about $25. It wasn’t luxurious but as I was arriving after my friends, it was the most economical option for one. The bus dropped us off at the city center where I met my girl friends. We taxied to the Airbnb after grabbing a bite at a local restaurant.

After settling in, we went to the Posada Lamar Beach Club. In Tulum, you will need some mode of transportation. Some rent a car, use taxis or bike. We opted for taxis since we didn’t want to drive and parking in the tourist areas can be hectic. Some things are close enough to bike to, but not everything. Even our taxi driver struggled with getting us to the beach club among all the traffic. I didn’t really know what to expect since this was my first time going to a beach club. The people watching was glorious! I also had a moment of self reflection. I have always been self conscious of my appearance. Watching people of all shapes and sizes fearlessly enjoy themselves made me start to realize that all bodies are beautiful! We stayed until night fall enjoying the food, drinks and music.

This trip was for relaxing and enjoying the beauty of the land. We booked in-home massages, visited the Tulum ruins and enjoyed the pool and local cuisines.

The best overall experience we had was at Tseen Ja by AZULIK. The walk up to the restaurant and the layout was a feast for the eyes. The sushi was good, but the ambiance was better. We got dressed up and had a lovely dinner experience.

We had to get a COVID test before we left Tulum and luckily they had testing tents everywhere! We weren’t sure how reliable they were, but it got the job done. Tulum was a nice and relaxing getaway. I am glad I visited and would recommend anyone wanting to visit to do their research prior to booking. It may have been a better experience with a car so we could explore more. We felt like we had to haggle the taxi fares a little and we weren’t too familiar with the area. We made it work and managed to have a good time.
